How to use the driveway width estimate

  • Treat the minimum as the tight planning number and the comfortable width as the better target when space allows.
  • Add more width near garage doors, retaining walls, fences, landscaping, slopes, or sharp curb approaches.
  • Check local curb-cut, apron, drainage, and zoning rules before pouring concrete or asphalt.
  • For shared or circular layouts, leave enough width for turning radius and passing, not just parked vehicle width.
