A car size comparison tool puts the length, width, height, and wheelbase of two or more vehicles side by side so you can see exactly how much bigger one is than another. This one compares 2 or 3 vehicles with to-scale outlines and checks whether each fits a parking space or garage.

Simple generic outlines by body type, drawn to the same scale from length, width, height, and wheelbase. Front of each vehicle is on the left. Mirrors are drawn only where the width with mirrors is published.
Typical US sizes. Door-opening room is an estimate: about 2 ft 6 in beside a front door to get in and out comfortably. Check your own space with a tape measure.

Door room assumes the car in the next stall leaves the same gap, so the space between the two cars is your total width room. Parallel spaces need extra length to maneuver in.

Uses the Garage Size Calculator's recommended clearances: about 3 ft beside the car, a 3 ft walkway in front, 18 in behind the car at the door, and at least 4 in of door headroom (2 in minimum). One vehicle parked in the middle of the garage.

Compare the manufacturer-published length, width without mirrors, height, and wheelbase side by side, then check the differences in inches and percent. Pick 2 or 3 vehicles in the tool above to see the numbers, to-scale top and side outlines, and whether each one fits a parking space or garage.
Across the 65 popular US vehicles in this tool, the average is 197.4 in (16 ft 5 in) long, 75.7 in (6 ft 4 in) wide without mirrors, and 67.4 in (5 ft 7 in) tall, based on manufacturer-published dimensions. Compact and midsize cars average about 15 ft 8 in long, while full-size crew cab pickups average about 19 ft 1 in.
A typical standard US parking space is 9 ft wide by 18 ft long (about 2.7 by 5.5 m). Compact stalls are often 7.5 to 8 ft wide by 16 ft long, and parallel spaces are typically 8 ft wide by 22 ft long. Local codes vary, so check your city's zoning code for exact sizes.
Measure the garage's inside width and depth and the door opening, then compare them with your car's length, width, and height. A typical one-car garage is 12 x 22 ft and a two-car garage is 20 x 20 to 24 x 24 ft. For comfort, plan about 3 ft beside the car, a 3 ft walkway in front, and at least 4 in of headroom under the door.
Usually not. Most manufacturers publish width without mirrors, and the mirrors add roughly 8 to 16 in for the vehicles in this tool that publish both figures. When a mirror width is published, this tool shows it and uses it for the garage door check.
